According to Intuit disclosure, QuickBooks Error 1606 shows that QuickBooks is unable to find or access a network location during the installation of QuickBooks or the Windows current user account has been damaged. You may get a message on the screen “Error 1606: QuickBooks could not access Network Location”.

Reasons behind QuickBooks Error 1606

All the probable causes that may lead to QuickBooks update error 1606 are listed as below:

  • If the user profile on Windows system has been corrupted.
  • When the installation of QuickBooks has not been completed due to a corrupt setup file.
  • Due to the Windows registry, you may lead to QuickBooks Error Code 1606. It also may hinder the installation of other applications.
  • When the Windows installer is failed to access the data from QB installation disk (CD).

Methods to get rid of QuickBooks Error 1606

Given below are the methods to fix Error 1606 QuickBooks install:

Method 1: Download and install QuickBooks using the administrator user account.

  1. Restart the PC.
  2. Sign in to your account by using the Windows Administrator username and password.
  3. After that, install & run QuickBooks.

Method 2: Install QuickBooks through a new Windows Administrator user.

  1. Create a new user account on Windows with Admin privileges.

First, you need to restart the Windows and sign-in into the recent account.

For Windows 10:
  • Select Windows Start > Settings.
  • In the accounts section, choose family and other users.
  • In the User section, select Add Someone else on this computer.
  • Select I don’t have this person’s sign-in information and click on Add a user without Microsoft account.
  • Type the user name and the password.
  • Click on Finish and choose the account.
  • Select Administrator from the account type section and press OK.
For Windows 7 and 8:
  • Select the Windows start option.
  • In the Search programs box, write User Accounts.
  • From the list of programs, select User Accounts.
  • Choose Manage account and select make a new account.
  • Give a name to the new account and choose Administrator and click on details.
  1. Install & run QuickBooks.

Method 3: Download the QuickBooks Installation file.

Sometimes, CD Drive is failed to run the data on the CD due to scratches on the installation disc. So, it is necessary to download the Setup file from the QuickBooks Product Download Page.

Method 4: Install QuickBooks again in the Windows safe mode

  1. First of all, reboot the Windows in safe mode.
  2. Install QuickBooks through the setup file.

Method 5: Install QuickBooks in selective startup.

Under this method, you require to turn off unnecessary services and Windows applications that are interfering with the software installation. After that, you can install QuickBooks on your computer.

Method 6: Restore Windows Registry entries.
