Error 1328 can occur due to the following factors -

Solutions to Fix QuickBooks Error 1328

You can use the following solutions to fix QuickBooks Error 1328-

Solution 1 - Reinstall QB using Clean Install

Follow the steps given below –

  • First of all, verify whether a clean install is a better option for you than the basic reinstall. You should always first carry out basic reinstall, and if it does not work, do a clean install.
  • Note down product information including license number
  • Back up your QuickBooks company file.
  • Now, uninstall QuickBooks.
  • Download and run QuickBooks Clean Install Tool.
  • After that reinstall QuickBooks.
  • Now, check whether QuickBooks Update Error 1328 is appearing or not.

Solution 2 - Make use of QBInstall

  • Firstly, download QBInstall Tool and save it.
  • Close applications or programs that are opened.
  • Run the downloaded .exe file.
  • Press the start scan button on the QBInstall tool.
  • Restart system after the scan has finished.
  • You may be asked to register or activate QuickBooks again.
  • Update your Windows.
  • Restart PC and install QuickBooks again.

Solution 3 - Find and rename config.msi file

  • Go to the Start button on the left side of the screen and click it.
  • Now, choose to Explore.
  • Open C: drive.
  • Go to Tools and click on it.
  • Open Folder Options after that go to the tab named View.
  • Under this tab, select Hidden files and folders.
  • Choose the option Show hidden files and folders.
  • Select Apply and then click on the OK button.
  • To make protected OS files visible, in the View tab, remove the mark placed against Hiding protected OS files.
  • Select Apply and then click on the OK button.
  • Do a right-click on the config.msi file.
  • Choose Rename from the list that appears.
  • Type .old at the end of the name of the file and press Enter key.
  • After renaming has been completed, you have to again make hidden the protected OS files along with hidden files and folders.
  • Finally, check if you are getting QuickBooks Error 1328.

Solution 4 - Repair registry, remove malware and use SFC tool

  • Repair the Windows registry entries related to QuickBooks by using a registry repair tool.
  • Run the antimalware scan and make your computer free of malware.
  • Clean your PC by removing the junk files.
  • Uninstall outdated device drivers from your computer.
  • Use Windows Restore to undo changes made recently to your computer.
  • Now, uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks.
  • Make use of the System File Checker tool to repair system files.
  • Update your Windows to the latest release.

Solution 5 - Repair QuickBooks

  • Log in into your computer with an admin account.
  • Go to Start and open Control Panel.
  • Now, open Programs and Features.
  • Look for your QuickBooks in the list of programs and choose it.
  • Select uninstall/change.
  • Look for the option – Repair – and click on it in the QB installer.
  • After the repair process has completed, run QB so that the patch gets applied.
  • Now, check for QuickBooks Update Error 1328.
