Steps to Turn on the Audit Trail feature in QuickBooks

  1. The first step to start with is to the edit menu and then go to the preferred option. QuickBooks account will show up the dialog box of Preferences. From this, you can easily those.
  2. The next step is to indicate that you wish to change the accounting preference for the company data file. To do this you just have to use the icon bar by the left edge of the preferences dialog box and then select the accounting set of preferences. The Accounting Preferences icon comes up at the very top of the list. After you do this you have to click on the Company Preference tab.
  3. The last step is to indicate that you have to turn to the audit trail feature. To tell QB that you want to use an audit trail you have to select the Use Audit Trail checkbox and click OK. From this point, QuickBooks keeps a record of which users make changes to your accounting.

Steps to Modify QuickBooks Audit Trail Reports

If you wish to customize the QuickBooks Audit Trail report according to your choice then you need to go to the top of the left corner and click on the report. You will see modify Report in the Audit Trail window now. This window opens up to 4 tabs namely Display, Filters, Header/Footer and Fonts & numbers. These four tabs will offer you many features.

  1. Header/Footer:

Under this tab, you can type and edit the content of the footer and header report. This is a modest procedure to change the sections.

  1. Filters:

Filters are the most usually used tool to improve any kind of search. You can apply filters whenever you are going to search for a specific transaction. Multiple filters will be available for you such as customer, name, job, amount, vendor, etc. You can use all of these filters to find a specific transaction. After that, you can remove these filters at your convenience.

In this tab, you will get choices of customization of the QuickBooks audit trail report. For example, the Report Date Range is one of these choices.
