How to Resolve Error Initializing QuickBooks POS Application Log

Encountering error while initializing QBPOS application log? Well, in this article we will provide you with two different ways to fix your problem. These methods are very easy to perform and will quickly resolve your problem. Begin with method 1 and see if you can fix it in one go. In case you cannot, then move on to the other steps smoothly.

Solutions:

  • Create changes to QBPOSShell Folder
  • This folder has the executable file for QBPOSShell

Steps to resolve Error Initializing QuickBooks POS Application Log

  • Visit the Task Manager by selecting CTRL+ALT+DEL.
  • Finish the task for This can be done by choosing the Processes tab and selecting QBPOSShell. Then right-click on the task and select End Process.
  • Open windows explorer by clicking on Windows+E.
  • Set the visibility of hidden items to Visible. Follow these steps to view the hidden items:
    • With Windows Explorer as the active window, click
    • Tap on Tools
    • Choose the View tab.
    • Mark the radio button beside “Show hidden file tab.”
    • Click on Apply and Ok.
  • Visit the C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local. Click on the Intuit tab placed on your screen then locate QBPOS Shell file with .exe extension.
  • Here, find the config file and right-click on the same.
  • Press Rename and rename it as configold.
  • Now, close all the windows and restart your PC.
  • Open QB POS. The error should now be fixed in all cases.

Ensure to make a copy of user.config before you rename it. This file might get corrupted due to renaming. Also, this is an indispensable file and QB POS will crash without it. Further, do not delete or change any other file in the QBPOSShell folder.

Logging in through a new user account

If your error has not been fixed yet then follow the steps given below. After you have done this, then, then you can log into QB POS by creating a new admin account in windows. For doing so, follow the steps given below:

  • Visit the start menu
  • Open Control Panel
  • Press User Accounts
  • Tap on Create a new account.
  • Enter the account name and password
  • Set Administrator as the type of account
  • Tap on Create Account

New User Account on Windows 8-10.

In case you want to build a new administrator account on Windows 8/ 8.1 or 10, follow the steps given below:

  • Visit the settings
  • Press Accounts
  • Tap on Family and other Users.
  • Choose ‘Add someone else to this PC.’
  • Now, choose the option that says ‘I don’t have this user’s info.
  • Proceed by Selecting Add a user without a Microsoft account
  • Enter your Username and Password along with Password hint. After you do this, click next.
  • Sign into the new user.
