What is the progressive invoicing in QuickBooks?

How to use progressive invoicing?

There are three ways from which you can initiate progressive invoicing.

  1. Estimate.
  2. Invoices.

Way 1: Creating a progressive invoicing from an estimate

  1. In the QuickBooks Desktop open the QuickBooks > click on the addition or plus sign (+). > click on the estimate.
  2. Fill the requisite information; keeping in mind the need of the company.
  3. Click on save to open up possibilities of creating an invoice.
  4. Now choose the option to create the invoice which will only be available if and only if the status of the estimate is pending or accepted.
  5. Do the required changes and click on create the invoice.
  6. You have selected custom amount then you are allowed to enter the amount and percentage manually.
  7. Click on Save to apply the changes.

Way 2: Creating a progressive invoice from an invoice

Follow step 1 of way 1, but this time choose invoice instead of choosing an estimate option.

  1. Search for the customer and when found click on the name of the customer.
  2. Select the option to add all you want an estimate of all the invoices or select one invoice at a time (depends upon your need).
  3. Enter the requisite information to view the progressive invoice.

Way 3: Creating a progressive invoice using transaction list

  1. In QuickBooks software select sales (left panel) > customers (top panel) > search for the name of the customer.
  2. When finding> action menu or list > choose to create invoice > add all or select specific invoice that you want to work with > choose the amount you want to invoice in what ways you want to invoice in accordance with your preference or your company’s preference > click on copy the invoice > then estimate summary with be visible at the bottom of the invoice.
