QuickBooks Web Connector is an interface that helps to pull the information from third-party web-based applications as many companies do use industry-specific solutions for estimates, invoicing and some other stuff that caters their business requirements. I have seen companies using some applications for years even before implementing QuickBooks. The legacy applications in most of the situations do not offer and cater the accounting requirements of a business and obviously, the accounting people can’t afford double-entry in two different applications flawlessly that too after devoting extra time and effort and this is what makes QuickBooks Web Connector a significant component.

QuickBooks Web Connector works on SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) – A web-based service Interface. QBWC (QuickBooks Web Connector) can automatically sync and pull the information into QuickBooks as per the defined schedule or simply be run as per the requirements and suitability of Users.

QBWC works with QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Point of Sale as it’s an XML file designed to create an intermingle bridge between QuickBooks Desktop products and the Web applications. QBWC is supported by QuickBooks enterprise support, Premier and Pro later than 2016 and QuickBooks Point of Sale V13.0 and later and same applies to the Canadian and UK Editions as well. It is easy to configure to sync with the web-based applications and import the information.

QuickBooks Web Connector Installation and Setup

In order to Install the setup the QuickBooks Web Connector, you need to obtain. qwc from the web application provider which normally is a zipped file. Unzip the installer and run the .exe file and begin the installation process and follow the on-screen instructions and complete the installation process.

  2. Browse to the location of the .qwc file provided to you by a third-party application provided
  3. Select and open the .qwc file and you are done.

Web Connector Basic configuration for Manual and Automatic Start

If you want to prevent Web Connector from starting every time you start the computer, you can simply manage your startup items and remove the shortcut from Startup as you might have been doing for other applications and the web connector will only communicate with QuickBooks when it is started manually.

Steps to Uninstall QuickBooks Web Connector

Take into your consideration that before uninstalling QuickBooks Web Connector, you have to save the .qwc file that you obtained from the third-party web-service provider.

  • First of all, you have to open the Run window.
  • Type the word Control in the search field and choose OK.
  • Control Panel window will appear on the screen.
  • Now, go to Uninstall a program.
  • In the list of programs, look for Web Connector.
  • Now, select Uninstall.

NOTE: If in case, you are unable to find QBWC in the control panel, look for the folder with the name - QBWebconnector folder here - C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\ or C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\ - and delete it.
